Public Safety

Police, fire and rescue, emergency management, and animal services for the residents of Galaxy County.

In an emergency

Call 911 for any situation that threatens life or property. The non-emergency line, 777-000-0011, is staffed 24 hours a day for reports that do not require an immediate response — noise complaints, cold burglary reports, abandoned vehicles, and follow-up questions on an existing case.

Text-to-911 is available countywide. Text your location first, then the nature of the emergency.

Frequently asked questions

How do I get a copy of a crash report?

Order it online through the Records Division or in person at Public Safety Headquarters. You will need the case number, the date, and the last name of a driver involved.

Can I request extra patrol while I am on vacation?

Yes. Submit a vacation watch request at least 48 hours before you leave. Officers will check the property during their shifts for up to 30 days.

How do I report a streetlight that is out?

Streetlights are maintained by Public Works, not Public Safety. Report the pole number through the county service request form.
