Frequently asked questions

Can I pay my property tax with a credit card?

Yes, online or by phone. A 2.4% processing fee is charged by the payment vendor and is not retained by the county. Payments from a checking account are free.

Do I need a permit to replace my deck boards?

Board replacement on an existing structure does not require a permit. Replacing framing, posts, or footings does.

What happens if I miss the personal property deadline?

A 10% penalty is added the day after the due date, and interest accrues at 10% per year. Payment plans are available if you contact Tax Administration before collection action begins.

How long is a building permit valid?

Six months from issuance, and it expires if no inspection is requested in any six-month period. One extension of six months can be requested at no charge.
